Last week I did write an article about the upcoming Samsung's flagship i.e the S8 and the S8 plus. Just a few days ago there has been another leak or rather information from Evan Blass who provides the most reliable information about upcoming devices. He wrote an article about the device along with an image of the S8 or the plus variant.
This was the image that he posted on Twitter and wrote an article about it on Venture beat. Most of the rumors were true however there are minor changes which may contradict the past rumours.
Firstly both the variants will have a dual curved display with the S8 having 5.8 inch screen and the plus variant having 6.2 inch screen, both with QHd resolution and super AMOLED panels. These display sizes remind me of the Samsung Mega which was launched years ago having similar sizes.
The aspect ratio is tipped to be 18.5:9 which is quite different to what the devices offer now.
The chipset that will be equipped will be the same i.e the Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 based on the 10 nm architecture. However, mostly the US will get the Snapdragon variant whereas most Asian regions will get the Exynos variant, based on what Samsung has been doing in the past.
In terms of camera, the megapixels count for the rear camera will remain the same i.e 12MP with f1.7 aperture size. The front facing camera will be equipped with an 8 MP shooter which is an upgrade to the S7's 5 MP shooter.
In terms of RAM, the devices will be equipped with 4GB of RAM which contradicts the earlier rumors of 6 or 8 GB.
The base storage variant could be 64GB and 256 GB could be the maximum storage variant.
The device will have an IRIS scanner which was present on the recalled Note 7. Fingerprint sensor will be on the back.
Earlier rumors were about the fingerprint scanner to be embedded in the display, however from the images it can be seen that the scanner is at the back near the camera lens. The location seems awkward but it could be mainly because of the way our forefinger rests at the back of our phones.
The screen to body ratio is expected to be 83% , not fully bezel less but almost. The device has good amount of resemblance to its predecessor i.e the S7 edge.
The device will have USB-C support and will have Qualcomm's quick charge 4.0 as it will come with the Snapdragon 835 chipset. The battery capacity is expected to be 3000 mAh and 3600 mAh for the s8 and plus respectively. Another major update in this device will be Samsung's newer assistant known as Bixby assistant. The devices are expected to come preloaded with Android nougat.
Launch date:
Earlier there were reports of the device being unveiled in MWC however it has been confirmed that Samsung will not unveil in MWC but rather will have a separate event on March 29 th at New York. The devices are expected to go on sale by April.
