OnePlus 5 |
OnePlus was yet to announce their flagship and finally amidst all leaks related to design, specs and pricing , the successor to the most popular 3T has been unveiled via the online event. Camera interface on the OP5 |
The OnePlus 5 from the design shows close resemblance to the iPhone 7 plus. The dual rear cameras also have similar functionality like in the 7 plus however the optics are not same. The 16MP camera comes with EIS and an aperture of f/1.7 which ensures better low light performance. The 20MP telephoto lens provides 2X optical zoom without any loss in quality. The front camera is of 16MP however lacks portrait mode which is present only in the rear camera.
The portrait mode enables the user to capture object in fully focussed mode keeping the background blurred. The camera comes with the PRO mode to tweak the settings according to the user's taste.
OnePlus has mainly focused with camera and have also approached DxO labs. Hence, with these camera specs, the expectations are escalated considering the price that its selling for.
Oxygen OS based on Android Nougat |
Speaking of the UI, OnePlus always opts for Oxygen OS (since the OP2) , almost stock Android with minor tweaks. The UI has been revamped quite a bit with some additional features.
Do Not Disturb mode to enable seamless gaming experience |
It comes with Do Not Disturb mode while gaming thus disabling all notifications and even prevents accidental triggering of the home button.
They have also included the reading mode which makes the screen appear like any paper back i.e prevents blue light (filters) and enables grey scale mode.
It comes with Android Nougat out of the box. However, the major letdown is the absence of IP rating. If its not your priority then it may not matter.
