Xiaomi Mi7 - What to expect from Xiaomi's next flagship?

Xiaomi had announced the Mi6 way back in April 2017 and its almost time for us to speculate the upcoming flagship from Xiaomi. Recently at the Qualcomm's event in Hawaii, it was announced and confirmed that the Mi7 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SOC. The device was also expected to be unveiled during the MWC 2018 however that might not be the case.

The rumored specifications include a 5.6 inch 18:9 (2160×1080) display which like the predecessor will be an IPS LCD flanked by Gorilla Glass for protection. Physically the form factor should be similar to the Mi6 with curved edges and a glass body in conjunction with slightly larger screen size coupled with a smaller form factor. The fingerprint sensor will most probably be a physical sensor as against screen embedded that Vivo showcased recently in collaboration with Synaptics which is rumored to debut with the XPlay 7. The Mi6 had ditched the headphone jack hence the Mi7 is expected to follow the steps.

Speaking of the internals, the Mi7 will be powered by 10nm based Snapdragon 845 SOC and Adreno 630 GPU as stated earlier. The RAM configurations may consist of 6 and 8 GB with 64 or 128 GB storage that will not be expandable. The battery capacity will be bumped up to 4480 mAh from the 3350 mAh battery on the Mi6 which is a major improvement. Qualcomm's quick charge will also be present however, will it be QC3 or QC4 we do not know.

Xiaomi Mi6

From the screenshot as below, the camera specification includes a dual 16MP sensor. Last year, Xiaomi with the Mi6 made use of 2, 12MP sensors of which one was meant for 2X optical zoom. Camera has been one area where Xiaomi's flagships have never been in the limelight however considering the recent improvements in the budget segment with the MiA1, we can expect better performance in this respect. The front facing camera might have a resolution of 8MP if we follow the footsteps of the Mi6.

SPECS
Display 5.6 inch IPS LCD
Resolution 2160 X 1080 (18:9)
SOC Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
GPU Adreno 630
RAM and storage 6GB - 64GB
8GB - 128GB
Rear camera Dual 16+16 MP
Battery 4480 mAh

This year's MWC will witness the launch of Mi MIX 2S instead of the Mi7 launch that was rumored initially. The Mi7 will most probably be announced in April and the pricing should hover around $400 for the base variant considering that the Mi6 was launched at that price. Are you interested in the Mi7 or prefer OnePlus over Xiaomi? Do let us know.
