LG with their tagline "Life's Good" have never been in a good position with their smartphones. Their flagships have always been in a downfall with pricing within few months of release. The LG G6 which was released for Rs. 52K is now retailing at Rs. 38K online and similar is the case with V20.
Keeping the flagship aside, lets talk about their budget offering i.e the Q6. The Q6 which resembles the G6 especially with the screen has been launched for Rs. 14,990. Unlike previous LG budget offerings, the Q6 seems promising and that's why we are taking a look at it here.

LG Q6 |

- 5MP 100° wide angle front facing camera
- 3000mAh battery
- Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
- Sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, ambient light, proximity
- Android 7.1.1 with LG UI 5.0
- 7.9mm thick and weighs 149g
The main highlighting factor is the 18:9 (or 2:1) aspect ratio and the minimum bezels inherited from the flagship G6. The rest of the features are completely different from the G6.
The Q6 is made from a polycarbonate body with series 6000 aluminium frame and not complete metal unlike other devices in this price range. Like the G6, the Q6 also comes with military standard which enables it to sustain drops to some extent therby resisting the impact. It also comes with face recognition unlocking by which you can unlock the device by merely looking at it.
However one major con is the lack of fingerprint sensor and at a price tag of Rs. 14990 where all other devices come with fingerprint sensor, is it justified, probably not!
The rear houses a 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture lens and has 1.12 micron pixel size. The camera in the day light will perform well however the shortcomings will be noticed while capturing shots in low light. The front facing sensor is of 5MP with 1.12 micron pixel and on practical usage it can capture decent selfies. It also comes with 100° field of view therby allowing for more sight via the front facing camera. The rear camera comes with Square camera feature like in the G6. This allows for capturing 2 shots on a single screen i.e by dividing the shots in half. It also allows for grid mode while capturing.
The best part about LG's camera app is the Pro mode settings which outcasts most other devices and the Pro mode for video is the icing on the cake.
The device is not a powerhouse since it comes with Snapdragon 435 SOC and Adreno 505 GPU clocked at 450MHz and 48.6 GFlops . The 435 although not impressive on paper, has been able to handle tasks quite well. Practically, the 435 can handle heavy games and basic stuffs like browsing, social media, etc. will be a breeze. However, LG's custom UI is heavily customized which tends to slow down after some time of usage although it does come with many useful features like setting the navigation toggles as per your convenience, get the notification panel with just one touch and so on.
Coming to the battery, the Q6 is equipped with 3000mAh battery. The in-box charger rating is 5V at 1.2A.
Overall, the LG Q6 is a decent package. LG being a tier 1 brand has done a great job to price the Q6 sensibly which also competes with the Nokia 6 also offering a similar package. They have also not skipped on basic sensors which Samsung does in it's budget and mid-range devices. If brand value doesn't matter then the other options under Rs. 15000 include Motorola G5 Plus, Huawei Honor 6X, Coolpad Cool Play 6 since they offer better value in terms of power and camera performance.
The Q6 is available via Amazon India for Rs.14990 and comes in Astro Black and Platinum colour.
With the Nokia 6 priced at Rs. 14999, will you consider getting the Q6 or else settle with any other device? Do let us know ;-)
(This is not a review of the device but a basic overview. Some points related to performance parameters and camera have been considered only after user experience and not on merely specs point of view)
