Huawei announces Honor 8 Pro in India

Honor the sub-brand of Huawei announced the updated version or precisely the successor (on the basis of specs) to the Honor 8 that was launched almost a year ago. The Honor 8 Pro has some flagship grade specs and it has been priced at Rs. 29,999 for the 128GB storage and 6GB RAM variant. Huawei claims that the 128GB storage is specific for India only and the rest of the world will have only 64GB storage. The device will go on sale via Amazon India from 10th for Prime members and 13th for others.

Honor 8 Pro specs:
  • 5.7 inch 2K IPS LCD screen, 2.5D curved glass with Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 960 SOC with 4 Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.4gHz and 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8gHz.
  • It comes with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU
  • 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, 128GB storage
  • 4000mAh battery with 18W (9V at 2A) charger indicating support for fast charging support.
  • Dual 12MP f/2.2 aperture rear camera. One sensor is a monochrome sensor for capturing Black and White shots whereas the other is a regular sensor with dual tone LED flash.
  • Rear camera is capable of 4K video recording at 30FPS and 1080p at 60/30 FPS.
  • 8MP f/2.0 front facing camera
  • Bluetooth 4.2 , WIFI 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and 2.4gHz / 5gHz support

  • Android 7 based EMUI 5.1
  • 6.97 mm thickness and 184g weight.

The device comes with Quad-HD or 2K display which indicates that Huawei is focussing on VR. The retail box can easily be converted into a cardboard VR although the VR experience may not be that great with the cardboard VR yet its an add-on.

The Honor 8 Pro is a direct competitor to the recently launched OnePlus 5. The OP5 with snapdragon 835 and 6GB RAM is priced at Rs.32999 whereas the Honor 8 Pro is priced competitively and aggressively at Rs. 29,999. The device will be available via Amazon India from 10th July 6:00 PM onwards for Amazon Prime members and for others from 13th July 12AM onwards. The device will be available in Navy Blue and midnight black colour.
