Its almost time for Samsung to unveil its flagship under the S series for the year 2017 and the internet is filled with its rumors and leaks. The most trusted source i.e Evan Blass ( whose leaks are always looked upon for being genuine) had come up with some tweets indicating the price and some images focussing on the various colour variants of both the S8 and S8 plus.
According to him the devices will be available for a price tag of 799€ for the S8 and 899€ for the plus variant . He also mentioned the prices for the DeX, Gear VR and the gear 360 which will be priced at 150€, 129€ and 229€ respectively. These additions probably will be released along with the flagships.
Speaking of the colours, the devices will be available in Black sky, Orchid grey, gold and Arctic silver. Basically thats black , grey, gold and silver as brands now-a-days have a unique way of naming colours (inspired from Apple :-P)
Moving over to the specifications, the regular S8 will have 5.8 inch 2K display and the S8 plus will have a much larger 6.2 inch 2K display. Both will be super AMOLED and have an aspect ratio of 18.5 : 9 also both will have dual curved (or edge ) screen.
Both will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset or the Exynos 8895 (region specific ; mostly Asian units will be equipped with the Exynos soc and USA will have the Snapdragon variant) based on 10nm process.
Both will have 4GB of RAM and one special variant will be launched in China having 6GB of RAM. The Snapdragon variant will have the Adreno 540 as gpu and the Exynos might have Mali G71 gpu.
In the camera department, both will feature 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and the front facing camera will be of 8MP which is an improvement over the S7. Another major addition could be the capability to record video at almost 1000FPS.
Battery capacity of the S8 is supposed to be 3000mAh and that for the S8 plus will be 3500mAh.
The devices will be preloaded with Android 7 based on Grace UX and will also have Samsung's own Bixby assistant.The major change, if the above UI based render is true then the device will have on-screen buttons and a very minimalistic UI. Similar to the Note 7 or even S7 , the resolution of the screen can be changed to FHD or even 720p.
The fingerprint sensor will be to the back and the devices will also have IRIS scanner like the Late Note 7. The IRIS scanner will have its own 3.7MP RGB sensor.
The devices will be unveiled on March 29th in New York and the sale of these will probably start from April 21st or 28th. Nothing much can be said about the worldwide availability as of now. Also the S8 and plus will be the first Snapdragon 835 devices to be available for sale. (The Xperia XZ premium was just unveiled with Snapdragon 835 and its sales will probably start after the S8)
