Redmi note 4 launched in India

Xiaomi completely transformed the budget segment of smartphones with the launch of Redmi note 3 last year for a very competitive price. Few months ago , Xiaomi unveiled the successor to the redmi note 3 i.e the redmi note 4. This device was launched in China with the Mediatek helio x20. As Xiaomi is not allowed to sell its devices with the Mediatek processors, they have finally launched it in India with the Snapdragon 625 processor.


Specifications:
The Redmi note 4 has

  • A 5.5 inch Fhd display IPS LCD screen 
  • Is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset which has 8 cores clocked at 2.0 gHz and based on the cortex a53
  • The gpu is adreno 506
  • 13 MP rear camera with f2.0 
  • 5.0 MP front facing camera
  • Bluetooth v4.2
  • 4100 mAh battery
  • 2.5D curved glass 
  • Dual sim and has 4G volte support
In india this device will be available in 3 configuration:
2 GB ram and 32 GB storage
3 GB ram and 32 GB storage
4 GB ram and 64 GB storage

The Redmi note 3 had a Snapdragon 650 chipset which on paper is slightly powerful as it comprises of powerful cortex a 72 cores however the Snapdragon 625 is known for its power efficiency as well as for its performance. 
The pricing for the variants are: 
2 GB : ₹9999
3 GB : ₹10999
4 GB : ₹12999

Considering the pricing and specifications, indeed this device is a powerhouse for its chipset as well as the battery. This device competes directly with the slightly higher priced Lenovo P2 , Coolpad cool 1 , Lenovo zuk z2 plus. 
Considering the performance and efficiency of Snapdragon 625, the same is expected with the device however the real time usage can only be determined later. 

The redmi note 4 will be available on sale via Flipkart on January 23rd at 12 noon.
The sale could be an open sale and hence chances of going out of stock quickly are very high.


At present only the dark grey and gold variants are available and no sign of 2 GB RAM variant availability.
