Motorola announces the E5 and E5 plus starting Rs. 9999

Motorola has announced the 'E' series successor in India after unveiling it recently and it consists of 2 variants. The E5 and the E5 Plus, both come with a massive battery capacity and are intended for users inclined towards having normal usage with premium feel and better battery life. With the recent announcement of the Moto G6 and the G6 Play it was evident that Motorola is no more interested in competing with the likes of Xiaomi or even Asus and Oppo but rather focus on providing premium build with average specs for the price that the tier 1 brands have resorted to, like Samsung.

Moto E5 Plus

The Moto E5 Plus from the rear might seem to sport dual cameras however the second spot houses the Laser autofocus which is missing in the regular E5. Apart from the screen and the above difference between the E5 and the E5 Plus, the notable differences lie with the battery capacity and the camera. The SOC's used in both these devices are quite old and are based on the 28nm process as against the 14nm trend these days in the budget segment although it mainly caters to efficiency which the massive battery capacity can suffice. Also the devices come with an HD+ display which translates to lower power consumption yet we would have loved to see a FHD+ display considering the pricing and the competition. Both these devices come with a 3.5 mm audio jack and also have face unlocking apart from the conventional rear mounted fingerprint sensor. On the software front, they come with Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box with an almost stock Android experience and also have Moto specific features.

Moto E5

The Moto E5 Plus will retail for Rs. 11999 via Amazon India and will be available in Black and Fine Gold colors. The regular E5 will retail for Rs. 9999 and will be available in Flash Gray and Fine Gold colors. In this price bracket, we have the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, the RealMe 1 and even the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which offers better value for money if we compare them on the basis of price to offering ratio.

Do you like the pricing of the Moto E series devices ? If not then what would have been an ideal pricing according to you ? Do let us know :-D
