Samsung announces J7+ smartphone with dual cameras

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was the first device from Samsung to come with a dual camera setup where the second camera was a telephoto lens. It has just been barely a week since its unveiling and now Samsung has come up with another dual camera device in the mid-range segment i.e the J7+ in Thailand. Although the function of the second camera is different from the Note 8 yet its functionality is similar to any other dual camera setup on a budget offering. Samsung has had an array of J7 series devices including the J7 Pro, Max, the regular J7 2017 and now with the addition of J7+ probably all the available suffixes for the J7 comes to an end ;-)
J7+ in Gold colour

J7+ specifications:
  • 5.5 inch super AMOLED 1080p (1920×1080) display with 2.5D curved glass
  • 8 core Helio P20 SOC with 4 cores clocked at 2.39gHz and remaining 4 at 1.6gHz with Mali T880 GPU
  • 4GB RAM -32GB storage expandable upto 256GB via sdcard
  • Dual 13 (f/1.7) + 5 (f/1.9) MP cameras with LED flash
  • 16MP f/1.9 front facing camera with LED flash
  • 3000mAh battery
  • 7.9 mm thick
  • Metal unibody design
  • 3.5mm headphone jack, micro USB port
Vertical camera module

The device has similar camera specs as in the other J7 2017 devices including the Pro and Max. Here the 13MP f/1.7 main camera is coupled with a 5MP f/1.9 depth sensing sensor to refocus any part on the captured image and to allow capturing good Bokeh shots.

Design wise the Plus resembles like most of the other Samsung devices from the front with the fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button. The rear although is completely different due to the vertical camera module and the antenna bands run parallel on the top and bottom.

The J7+ runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1 and will come with Samsung specific features like Bixby Home, secure folder, Always ON display, face detection security and so on. The device is available in Black, Gold and Rose Gold (Pink) colours and will retail for 12,900 Thai Baht (Rs. 25000). At present the device is available for pre-orders and will be available soon.
The details on worldwide availability will be provided later however its most probable that the device may never make it to India considering the recent launch of the J7 Pro and J7 Max.
