Samsung at Berlin during the IFA 2017 announced the Gear Sport smartwatch and Fit 2 Pro fitness band. The Fit 2 Pro is the updated version of the Fit 2 and the Gear Sport is their offering for the premium smartwatch segment.
Both the smartwatch and fitness bands are running on Tizen OS, one of the most failed OS's attempts from Samsung for smartphones. Although, their smartwatches have been running them since a long time.
The Gear Sport comes with circular dial with 1.2 inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display. It is similar to the Gear S3 Frontier however slightly smaller in size. The battery capacity is a minimal 300mAh which supports wireless charging. It will be available in 2 colours i.e black and blue.
Speaking of the internals, the watch comes with 4GB of internal storage and is powered by 1 gHz dual core SOC (not specified). The RAM made available is 768MB.
The Fit 2 Pro comes with 1.5 inch elongated curved display with 216×432 resolution. The display is Super AMOLED and the battery capacity is 200mAh. It will be available in Black and Red colours.
The Fit 2 Pro is powered by the same SOC as the Gear Sport i.e 1 gHz dual core (unspecified) and comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage.
Both the wearables are water resistant and come with MIL-STD-810G protection. This enables it to sustain impacts to some extent. Probably, it can handle some harsh blows although we are not responsible for any damage due to our claim :-P
The wearables come with Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS for connectivity options.
As both are targeting fitness, they are equipped with the heart-rate sensor and pedometer.
The Gear Fit 2 Pro will be up for pre-orders starting August 31st and will retail for $199.99. It will be available starting September 15th. More details regarding the availability of Gear Sport will be announced later.
