Smartron an Indian smartphone brand, debuted with their " T phone" in India. It didn't sell well as they did not invest that much in marketing like oppo, vivo :-P
Also the device had great specs but for a price tag of Rs. 19999, that too for a new brand, the results were obvious. However, after a long gap, Smartron is back with another phone this time a midranger to give tribute to the master blaster i.e Sachin Tendulkar, they named it SRT phone (SRT probably is the acronym for full name of Sachin).
The SRT phone comes in 2 variants and the base variant is priced at Rs.12,999

The smartron srt for the price point is a great value for money device from an indian brand. However there are few cons as well. One major con is no metal build. It has a removable back panel however the battery is sealed. The only thing that you can access is the sim card slot. Other devices in the price range like Xiaomi redmi note 4, honor 6x have a metal build. Another major con is the top mounted power button. It does come with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor which is quite accurate to unlock yet to power off the device, the button needs to be pressed. Now lets talk about what's powering the phone and rest of the specs.

SRTphone running on Android 7.1.1 with Stock UI |
The device indeed has some good midranger specs however the battery capacity seems underwhelming as the 5.5 inch 1080p display with powerful SOC may take a toll on battery.
Performance wise the device must not have any issues as it comes with Snapdragon 652 which is powerful and the device comes with almost stock UI making user experience more better and lag free. The device will be able to handle heavy tasks with ease and with 4GB RAM ,multitasking must never be an issue . Smartron has claimed to provide regular security updates and with almost stock UI, it must never be an issue.
The camera on this device has 13MP f/2.0 sensor. It captures decent shots during the day and by night like any other midranger , it struggles. However the camera is not the main highlight here as for pure camera performance, you can depend on the Honor 6X or the Moto G5 Plus.
The front facing sensor is of 5MP which captures good selfies. Overall the camera on this device is decent.
The device comes with Tron.X which is Smartron's machine learning to monitor your daily usage of apps and rest of the stuff. It also comes with t.cloud which is basically cloud storage from Smartron to store your files, images, contacts and so on. The best part is that it comes with unlimited storage.
The device comes in 2 variants i.e 32 and 64GB internal storage. Both come with 4GB RAM and the former is selling at Rs.12999 and the latter at Rs.13999 via Flipkart and the device is available in only one colour i.e titanium grey.
Final thoughts:
The device is an awesome buy for pure performance oriented with decent camera. The battery life won't be that great as discussed earlier. The plastic build with odd placement of fingerprint sensor makes for a thumbs down. Also for better battery life and similar performance, the Redmi note 4 is a better buy but MIUI is a personal preference. The Moto G5 plus with stock UI and metallic build is another option as it comes with good camera and efficient SOC i.e 625.
Keeping the cons aside, the stock Ui and a reliable device from an Indian brand with support for updates makes it another device (including Xiaomi redmi note 4 , Moto G5 plus and honor 6X ) to consider for a price tag of under Rs. 15K
