Xiaomi announces the Mi6 in China

After a long wait finally Xiaomi unveiled their flagship i.e the Mi6 on April 19th at an event in Beijing, China. Most of the rumors were true however there was no indication of any plus variant. At the event Xiaomi announced only the Mi6 and revealed the pricing for China.

Mi6 in white , black and blue

The Mi6 after the Xperia XZ premium and Samsung S8 , comes with the latest Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SOC which is based on KRYO 280 architecture and 10nm process and has 8 cores. The higher powered cores are clocked at 2.45gHz and the lower powered ones could be clocked at 1.9gHz. The GPU handling the graphics is the adreno 540. There were rumors of the Mi6 supporting 4GB RAM however Xiaomi introduced it with 6GB LPDDR4 RAM only. There is no other variant like the underpowered one (which was launched in India) or the lesser RAM variant and so on.
The device will be available in 2 storage options i.e 64GB and 128GB.

Dual camera setup. Looks like the Honor 8

Speaking of camera, it comes with dual camera lenses each having 12MP. One of the lens is the regular wide angle lens with 4 axis stabilization including PDAF. The other is a telephoto lens having similar function as in the iPhone 7 plus. It doubles up the optical zoom without the loss in the quality and can zoom upto 10x digitally. The front facing sensor is of 8MP.

After the internals lets come to its physical features. The Mi6 come with 5.15 inch 1080p IPS display. It comes with 600 nit brightness and claims good sunlight legibility. For night viewing, they have tweaked the brightness levels upto 1 nit making it eye friendly.

The Mi6 with unibody design has 3D glass on all the 4 corners making the phone easier to hold. Do remember that its just the body that is curved and not the screen. The smaller form factor and rounded curves should make one-handed usage even more hassle free.
The fingerprint sensor is placed at the bottom and embedded in the display like the Mi5s. Xiaomi has ditched the HEADPHONE JACK with the Mi6 and opted USB type-C connectivity. It comes with stereo speakers placed to the bottom. The Mi6 also comes with IR blaster as Xiaomi is always interested in providing them even in their budget devices.

To keep the juice running throughout the day the Mi6 comes with 3350 mAh battery which Xiaomi claims that it can make the device to last an entire day. However, to top it off it does come with Qualcomm's quick charge. The device will come with MIUI based Android 7 out of the box.

The CERAMIC VARIANT with 18K gold camera rim

The Xiaomi Mi6 will be available in 11 colours however most of them will be China specific only. The colours are : Black, blue, silver, white, gold, grey, pink, champagne gold, dark grey, cherry blossom and frosted black.
No doubt that Xiaomi has added many colour options as there were few with its predecessor.
