REDMI NOTE 4 vs HONOR 6X

Redmi note 4 VS Honor 6x

The ₹15000 or approx $230 is dominated by a variety of devices. Each of them are good in some or the other department i.e either performance or camera, battery, etc. Today, i thought of comparing the Honor 6x and the Redmi note 4. The main reason of comparing them is that they belong to the same budget category as well as pack almost the same specs.
The Xiaomi redmi note 4 is available in 3 variants i.e 2 -32, 3-32 , 4-64 whereas Honor 6x is at present available in 3-32 GB and 4-64 GB.

Firstly lets get an overview of the Redmi note 4:

The Redmi note 4 is the most popular Xiaomi device in India. The device is available via flash sales through Flipkart. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 625 in India and mediatek's Helio x20 in China. Speaking of Snapdragon 625 variant, it has 8 cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0 gHz and is based on the 14nm process which means more better battery life.

The note 4 has 4100 mah battery which surpasses most other devices in this range except Lenovo P2 which has 5000mah battery. Based on real time usage the Redmi note 4 has one of the best battery life in the segment and is much better than most flagships. (You can expect a screen on time on average usage of more then 7 hours).

Going ahead, in terms of camera, it has a 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture. It has a 5MP front facing camera. Based on reviews, its camera performance is average although better than the Redmi note 3. However, this device is NOT FOR YOU IF YOU WANT A CAMERA CENTRIC PHONE.
An addition in this device is the IR blaster at the top by which you can control your television, AC with an inbuilt app. However, not all TV's or AC's can be controlled with it.

Performance wise this device excels many in the range. Its sd625 with Adreno 506 gpu delivers great user experience along with good gaming performance. There will be no lag or glitches in day to day use however the MiUI is something which comes to personal choice. If you feel comfortable using MiUI and your usage is purely performance based , then this device is for you.

HONOR 6X:

Huawei's sub brand Honor has been making some decent devices which are usually placed in the midrange segment. The honour 5X was never a hit. However, the Honor 6X has some good features to offer. First, speaking of the processor used. It makes use of the huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 655 based on the 16 nm process. The gpu is the Mali T830.

The device has 5.5 inch FHd display IPS screen. The most highlighting factor about the 6X is its camera. It has a 12MP rear camera with another 2MP lens for dynamic aperture. It has a larger pixel size i.e 1.25 micron as compared with the Redmi note 4. Its outcasts other devices in this segment based on real time usage. Hence, its indeed a camera centric phone. The secondary is an 8MP shooter and captures good quality selfies. Hence, it wont displease you in this department.

Now, speaking of day to day usage, it has Kirin 655 processor which has 4 cortex A53 cores at 2.1gHz + 4 Cortex A53 cores at 1.7 gHz. Indeed on paper it seems almost the same as the sd625 however it's end usage matters. In real time usage it did not have any performance issues however there was a lag when rendering graphics or frames for heavy games like asphalt 8.

In terms of battery life , its not as good as the Redmi note 4 however, it can last for a full working day. It has 3340 mah battery.

Final thoughts:
Both these devices are feature packed and offer a lot for the price tag in which they fall (INR 13000 REDMI NOTE 4 4-64 variant , 13000 for 3-32GB Variant and 16000 for 4-64 GB variant . Approx $250 ).

  • For camera: HONOR 6X
  • For pure performance : REDMI NOTE 4
  • For battery life : REDMI NOTE 4
  • For basic usage : HONOR 6X (as it has an edge in the camera department)
I hope you found this helpful. I just want to clear that I don't own these devices however by referring some of the great Youtubers I can say that I can recommend devices. Do stay tuned to THE SERIOUS GEEK for more such comparison and other posts.
