Its quite rare for us to get chipset or SOC related specifications leak however within few weeks after the unveiling of Qualcomm's flagship SOC i.e Snapdragon 845, we are here with the expected specs of their entry level and mid-range SOC's. With the details it is clear that the Snapdragon 660 will be replaced by the more powerful Snapdragon 670, the 630 will be replaced by the 640 and the entry level 400 series will be updated by the Snapdragon 460.

The SD670 will replace the SD660 although the 660 has not been into much use in devices during 2017. Hence, we should see more devices with 660 in 2018 rather than the 670 until its unveiled. The Snapdragon 660 was based on 14nm process as against more efficient 10nm on the 670. Also, the 670 comes with core configuration that is almost equivalent to any previous flagship SOC hence, devices powered by the 670 can be considered a sub-flagship device (higher than a mid-ranger).
The snapdragon 660 was based on KRYO 260 cores that was also used with the 2016 flagship Snapdragon 821/820 SOC. The Snapdragon 835 made use of KRYO 280 cores.

The SD640 will be the successor to the SD630 and also the popular Snapdragon 62X series. The 630 was just an updated 625/626 with better GPU however now, the 640 is a complete upgrade. The 640 comes with more powerful cores (Cortex A75) and has a better GPU. Its also based on more power efficient architecture and process i.e 10nm as against 14nm on the predecessors thereby yielding more better battery life on a smartphone. The highlight of the devices with 62X SOCs was the battery life and with the latest addition it should be more prevalent.

The Snapdragon 460 SOC will replace the Snapdragon 450 SOC which like the 460 was also based on the 14nm process. The major improvement lies with the usage of new architecture i.e Cortex A55 cores over Cortex A53 cores. The GPU is expected to be more better and powerful and overall this could prove to be a game changer in the budget segment if manufacturers make use of this SOC.
