Huawei Honor V10 gets announced globally

Huawei's sub brand Honor announced the flagship V10 in China a few days ago. The V10 or rather the View 10 (where V stands for 'View') is the successor to their previous flagship i.e the Honor 9 or the Honor 8 Pro (V9 in China) and has been announced globally along with the Honor 7X at an event in London. The device has also followed the trend of 2017 of going bezelless and has similar form factor and design corresponding to their previously launched devices (Honor 7X and the 9i), except that the home button or rather the fingerprint sensor is located to the front at the bottom. The device will be available in India, US, UK, Italy, Russia and various other countries by January 8th.

The Honor V10 comes with an elegant metallic unibody design and the color options of Blue and Black provided by Huawei do make it stand out among other flagships.  The rear houses the dual 16 (RGB) +20MP (Monochrome) cameras and the front comes with a 13 MP f/2.0 sensor along with a larger and taller 5.99 inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution. The device comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack along with an IR blaster thereby not making the consumers devoid of the basics inspite of having a thickness of just under 7mm. The V10 also comes with a Face Unlock feature similar to the OnePlus 5T.

AI in the V10

With the V10, Huawei has made use of AI for the cameras. This AI will provide various optimum conditions for clicking pictures based on the scenario. The 20MP Monochrome sensor at the rear should suffice for the depth and detailing along with the 16MP RGB sensor. The AI feature is also available for the front facing camera and there are various other software related features that make use of it. This indicates and showcases the AI capabilities of the Kirin 970.

The SOC used is Huawei's own Hisilicon Kirin 970 which is based on 10nm process like the Snapdragon 835 or even the Exynos 8895. The GPU used is Mali G72 with 12 cores and in terms of software, the View 10 will run Android Oreo over EMUi 8. The EMUi is like any other customized skin with many features over vanilla Android including theme support, multi window, etc.

The V10 also supports Honor Super Charge technology where the 3750 mAh battery will be charged by a 5V - 4.5A charger (22.5W). The rating of the charger is more than OnePlus's Dash charger which is 5V-4A (20W) which indicates faster charge rates than the Dash charger. The 10 nm SOC coupled with 3750 mAh battery should be able to last for an entire day or more of average usage due to the efficiency however the final results can only be confirmed by testing it in real.

The Huawei Honor V10 will be available by January and will retail for €499 / £449 i.e approximately Rs. 38,000. The Indian pricing will be available later although it is expected to hover around Rs. 35-40,000. This device will compete with the likes of OnePlus 5T, Nokia 8 and Samsung's mid-range offerings under the A series.
