Huawei Mate 10 Pro gets leaked in renders

Huawei is yet to announce the flagship for the second half of 2017 that is the successor to the Mate series. There were some minor leaks related to the launch prior however now, Evan Blass, the most trusted and reliable source for leaks has released an image of the Mate 10 Pro. Usually the Mate series come with a regular Mate device along with the Pro version however at present we have the details of only the Pro.

Expected specifications:

  • 5.99 inch 2K display with 18:9 aspect ratio (2880×1440)
  • Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SOC (4*2.4gHz cortex A73 + 4*1.8 gHz cortex A53)
  • 6GB RAM with 64/128GB storage
  • 20 + 12 MP rear camera with f/1.6 lens, OIS, 2X optical zoom
  • 8MP front facing camera
  • 4000 mAh battery with quick charge
  • Bluetooth 5, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • USB type-C
The Mate series as the name suggests have larger form factor and this time the Pro has a larger screen size of 5.99 inch as against 5.5 on the Mate 9 Pro. The regular Mate 9 however was equipped with 5.9 inch display. The Mate 10 Pro has a completely revamped design following the "BEZELLESS" trend and the physical features like overall size seem similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8. From the image, the device seems to be made out of metal which is indicative of not having wireless charging. The vertical dual cameras and the fingerprint sensor seem to blend well with the overall design.

Evan Blass did tweet another image focussing on the camera. It does indicate Huawei's partnership with Leica therby including Leica branded camera module. The lens is a SUMMILUX-H aspheric lens which comes with f/1.6 aperture therby allowing in more light for low light shots. One of the lens is expected to boast 2X optical zoom similar to the Note 8 and the iPhone 7/8 Plus. OIS is present and the presence of laser autofocus is adamant from the image.

The Kirin 970 that will power the Mate 10 series was announced recently and is based on the 10nm process like the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 SOCs. The GPU is the Mali G-72 MP12 which is the successor to the powerful G71.

The Mate 10 series will be announced on October 16th and the special Porsche Edition will also be unveiled. The pricing is expected to be on the higher side with the likes of "Premium Brand" flagships like the Samsung galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 8 series. Do let us know about your thoughts on the Mate 10 Pro. Do you feel it will be a better replacement to the Note 8 and the iPhone X.. we are eager to know!
