Huawei has been one of the most influential brand in India and around the world. They have been launching great products which also excel to some extent with camera coupled with good performance and design. Their design aesthetics have not been like Xiaomi or Samsung where almost every device looks similar but rather unique. Recently, Huawei announced the 4 camera device i.e Maimang 6 in China which was announced in India as the Honor 9i. The device has been priced at Rs. 17999 and for this price point is the device worth looking for lets find out!

Design:
The Huawei Honor 9i comes with a metal unibody design and the bezels have been reduced to a greater extent when compared with the other devices from Huawei. The form factor resembles to a regular 5.5 inch device. Being a 5.9 incher with 1080p display, the screen quality is quite good and at par with most other devices in the segment. The device comes with 2 front cameras located at the top and consists of software buttons. The rear is comprised of 2 vertically placed cameras with the fingerprint sensor located at the center.

Camera:
The main highlighting factor is the cameras. It is one of the rarest device to come with a total of 4 cameras where the rear camera consists of dual 16+2 MP sensors. The front comprises of 13+2 MP. The secondary lens of 2MP is used for bokeh or rather depth of field therby allowing for good portrait shots. Both the cameras are impressive and in the day to day usage they perform better than most other offerings. More details can only be provided by testing the cameras to a greater extent in the real world scenario especially in low light conditions. The front facing cameras also are capable of capturing Portrait mode shots.

Performance:
Speaking of performance, the Huawei Honor 9i comes with Huawei's in-house HiSilicon Kirin 659 SOC. This SOC is coupled with Mali T830 GPU. The 659 is an updated version of 655. The 655 performed quite well with the Honor 6X and same is expected with the 659. However, with heavier tasks like gaming, frame drops are expected since the GPU is mediocre although in the day to day usage the user will never experience any issues.
The software used is Huawei's own EMUi 5.1 which is a heavily customized Ui like MIUI. It does come with useful features like bringing the notification panel with just a button on the software buttons panel or by just swiping down on the fingerprint sensor, multi-window, etc.

Overall, for the asking rate of Rs. 17999, the Huawei Honor 9i is a complete package. It will be available in 3 colours i.e Gold, Black and Blue. The device is on sale via Flipkart and at this price point, the nearest contender is the Moto G5s Plus. When compared side by side, the 9i clearly leads in terms of camera. Also, with the 18:9 aspect ratio display, it is second only to LG Q6 under Rs. 20K having that display. Therefore if you were having an eye for the Q6 for the display, well the 9i is the way to go as it replaces the Q6 in every aspect.

Will you be considering the Honor 9i or rather settle with any tier 1 brand like Samsung. Do let us know in the comments below!
