Meizu unveils Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus


Meizu Pro 7

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 plus were doing rounds on various sites displaying the leaks and it's unique feature i.e rear display. All the rumors pertaining to the device's specs and design were true and now officially Meizu has announced them in China. The Pro 7 and 7 Plus is the successor to last year's Pro 6. Going with the likes of innovation from brands like LG and Samsung (bezelless) this year, Meizu implemented their innovation in the form of an AMOLED rear display.

  • 5.2 inch super AMOLED 1080p display (1920×1080) with 10000:1 contrast ratio
  • 2 inch rear AMOLED display 
  • 4GB LPDDR4X RAM with EMMC 5.1 storage
  • Helio P25 (2.6 gHz based on 16nm process) or Helio X30 SOC (2.5gHz based on 10nm process)
  • Dual 12MP IMX 386 sensors with f/2.0 aperture. One lens is RGB whereas the other is a monochrome lens with dual LED flash
  • 16MP front facing camera 
  • 3000mAh battery with mCharge 3.0
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Android 7 based Flyme OS
  • Fingerprint sensor

  • 5.7 inch 2K super AMOLED display (2560 × 1440) 
  • 2 inch AMOLED rear display 
  • 6GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64/128 GB UFS 2.1 storage
  • Helio X30 decacore SOC based on 10nm process 
  • Dual 12MP IMX 386 sensors with f/2.0 aperture. One lens is RGB whereas the other is a monochrome lens with dual LED flash
  • 16MP front facing camera 
  • 3500 mAh battery with mCharge 4.0 (25W charger)
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • Android 7 based Flyme OS
  • Fingerprint sensor


Both the devices come with the same size of rear touch enabled display. The display is not monochrome as in the Yotaphone 2 but rather an RGB display. The display can be used for notifications, displaying number of steps, time and date, music player, rear camera view and so on.
The rear and front facing cameras are the same with 12MP IMX 386 sensor and one of the sensor is monochrome for capturing better sharpness and detail. The front facing camera is of 16MP. The rear display can also provide a view of yourself from rear camera thereby assisting in selfies.
Another addition to the devices is the use of independent audio chip for better sound processing thereby enhancing audio experience.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus in Gold

The Pro 7 is available in black, red and gold colours whereas the Pro 7 Plus is available in Gold, Red, Silver and Black. The device will go on sale starting August 5th. The Meizu Pro 7 starts from $430 and the 7 Plus starts from $530.
