Q1 of 2017 has already been passed and Xiaomi is yet to unveil their flagship for the year. On Wednesday there were false claims of the mi6 to be launched however now it has been confirmed by Xiaomi that the device will be launched on 19th April in Beijing, China. There has not been much rumors regarding the looks of the phone yet the rumors related to specs seem good enough.
Speaking of the leaks we can expect Xiaomi to launch 2 variants i.e the regular one and the plus variant. Both the devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset and adreno 540 gpu as against Snapdragon 821 of which the rumor was in rounds earlier. The regular one will have a 5.15 inch screen probably 1080p which is the same as seen on its predecessor. The larger variant i.e the Mi6 plus will have a 5.7 inch screen , however nothing has been confirmed yet about the plus variant.

The Mi6 will have 4GB RAM and will be available in 64 and 128GB storage variants. The plus will have 6GB RAM and will be available with 64, 128 and 256GB internal storage. This clearly shows that if you need more RAM then the Mi6 plus is the only option. However, there could be a possibility of 6GB RAM variant of the Mi6.
Speaking of camera , there has not been any strong rumors however the Mi6 is expected to come with 19MP rear camera with Sony IMX400 sensor and 8MP front facing camera.
The plus variant might come with a lower resolution 12MP rear camera with IMX362 sensor and a dual camera setup. The front facing camera remains same as the Mi6.
Finally let's come to the pricing which is the main highlight of Xiaomi products. They usually price their products aggressively thus luring many consumers to buy their products which seems legit for China and India (both are huge markets for Xiaomi)
The pricing has been leaked on Weibo ahead of the launch.
Mi6 pricing:
- 4-64GB -- 2199 Yuan ~ Rs. 21000
- 4-128GB -- 2599 Yuan ~ Rs. 25000
Mi6 plus pricing:
- 6-64GB -- 2699 Yuan ~ Rs. 26000
- 6-128GB -- 3099 Yuan ~ Rs. 30000
- 6-256GB -- 3699 Yuan ~ Rs. 36000
As said earlier Xiaomi is very aggressive in pricing and if the Weibo post is legit and if Xiaomi does everything right with the Mi6 then surely it will be a flagship killer (I know that it's OnePlus's line ) in a budget price.

This image was leaked at the start of 2017. The image clearly shows the back housing a dual camera setup. If the leaks go well then it could probably be the Mi6 plus. The Mi5 also had somewhat similar looking back except the dual camera setup. Do remember that Xiaomi may not go bezelless with them as the Mix has already been debuted and probably will be the series meant for it. Hence, don't expect much in the design department.
The Mi6 and plus will come with MIUI 8 out of the box with Android 7 preloaded. If it comes with Snapdragon 835 then it will surely come with Qualcomm's quick charge 4.0
The Mi5 had a lot of issues in network reception and some other software related issues and did not go well in India. Xiaomi had launched the underclocked variant of the Mi5 and we do hope that they do not repeat that mistake again. The Mi3 and 4 worked well and the note series have astonishing sales figures by crossing 1 Million mark , hence expectations are high with the 6.
The only thing that we can do now is to wait and watch on April 19th.
