Huawei Honor 8 pro - updated Honor 8!!

Huawei has been in the race to launch attractive and quite powerful devices. They have a flagship now in every series be it Mate, Honor and P or rather even Magic. Their recent offering was the P10 and P10 plus. After the most attractive Honor 8 , Huawei has launched its updated and powerful version called the Honor 8 pro. As the name suggests it is the bumped up version with more RAM and a slightly better processor i.e Kirin 960

Speaking of the device it has :

  • 5.7 inch 2K IPS LCD display with a ppi of approximately 515.
  • Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin chipset with 4 cores based on cortex a73 clocked at 2.4gHz and rest 4 based on cortex a53 clocked at 1.8gHz.
  • It has a Mali G71 MP8 GPU
  • It comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage unlike 4GB and 32GB/64GB in Honor 8
  • It comes with dual 12MP rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture. One is a monochrome sensor and the other an RGB sensor.
  • The camera has PDAF and Laser autofocus and has capability of 4K video recording at 30FPS and 1080p at 60FPS
  • The front facing camera is of 8MP with f/2.0 aperture.
  • The battery capacity is 4000mAh as compared to 3000mAh on the Honor 8
  • It supports fast charging at 5V at 2A and 9V at 2A.
  • It supports regular wifi bands 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band, Bluetooth v4.2, LE
  • It comes preloaded with Huawei's EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0
The rear of the device is neatly done and makes it look apart from others. However, the front is like its younger brother.

As compared to the previously released Honor 8, it supports 4K video recording which was not supported on the Honor 8. It also has a larger screen of 5.7 as compared to 5.2 inch of the Honor 8. This larger screen with more packed pixels require larger battery of 4000mAh. As compared with the regular Honor 8, it comes with a metallic back and not a glass back panel. Gorilla glass 3 protection is present for the screen and the fingerprint sensor is at the back. The ultimate headphone jack is present to the bottom and the device also comes with an IR sensor to control your electronics.

Speaking of camera, the HONOR 8 itself had a great performing camera which showed decent results even in low lighting situation. Hence, same is expected with the pro as the monochrome sensor is an addition to capture depth of field or just act like a black and white shooter.

The device has been up for pre-order in UK for a price tag of £474 and the official launch is on 20th April. There is no word on its worldwide availability. Till then we can only admire its beauty and expect it to perform even better than the Honor 8.
