Xiaomi launches Redmi 4A in India

Xiaomi India today held an event where they launched the redmi 4A , a budget centric smartphone in India for a price tag of Rs. 5999. This device is priced slightly lower than the Redmi 3S which was launched months ago.


Speaking of its availability it will be available via Amazon India and Mi.com on Thursday 23rd March from 12PM. This device will be available in 3 colours i.e Dark grey, gold and rose gold. The rose gold variant will be available from April 6th via Mi.com only. There wers speculations regarding the offline availability of Redmi 4A however it will be available online only.


The specifications of the Redmi 4A are:

  • 5.0 inch IPS LCD screen with 720p resolution
  • Snapdragon 425 chipset with Adreno 308 gpu. The 425 has 4 cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4gHz.
  • 2 GB RAM and 16GB internal memory
  • 3120 (typ) /3030(min) mAh battery
  • 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture lens and LED flash. The device has 5MP front facing camera
  • 4G volte support 
  • Hybrid sim slot where one can insert both sims or one sim and an sd card upto 128GB
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, and Bluetooth v4.1
  • Sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, proximity , compass
  • It also has an INFRARED SENSOR to the top
  • MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 
The main difference between the 3S is that it supports slightly more powerful and efficient Snapdragon 430 chipset and might have a slightly better camera (as on paper) although the real world usage matters.

The device has no fingerprint sensor however considering the price for which it retails, it will surely conquer the sub 7000 range.
